A KILLYBEGS teenager who died while on holiday in Spain last night has been named locally as Ryan O’ Shea.

The 19 year-old died at a resort close to Torremolinos while holidaying there with his parents and brother.

It is believed he may have died as a result of a freak fall.

The family, from the Fintra Road area, are well known in the fishing industry in Killybegs. His grandfather Teddy owned the trawler Sheanne and his father ran the business, O’Shea Fishing Company Ltd.

The young man was studying in Galway and had only recently taken up a summer job at Swan Nets in the town.

The Vice Chairman of the Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation (KFO), Mr Martin Howley, said Ryan was a “very nice and quiet young fellow” and that the town was in shock at the news of his death.

“On behalf of the Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation, and the fishing industry in general, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the O’Shea family,” Mr Howley said.

The Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that they have not been asked for assistance by the family at this stage.
