Killybegs 1-09 Castleblaney Faughs 1-06
WHEN Killybegs reached the county championship final in 2010, much of their successful run was attributed by then manager Peter McGinley to a successful Ulster League campaign in the spring.
On Saturday the Fishermen, now under Joe McBrearty’s direction, booked their place in another Ulster League final as they scored an extra-time win over Castleblaney Faughs.
Barry Cannon forced the tie into extra time just when it appeared to have slipped away from Killybegs. The home side had eight different scorers and interestingly 1-3 of their end tally came off the bench with Kevin Martin notching the crucial goal in the first period of extra time.
