THE Killybegs Coast Guard was tasked last night when a sailing vessel got into difficulty south-west of Killybegs.
The team were tasked at 8.56pm by Malin Head Coast Guard to come to the assistance of the sailing vessel which had two people on board.
The sailing vessel had experienced loss of engine power and with little to no wind the vessel was “becalmed”.
“Killybegs CGB took the vessel under tow back to the small craft harbour, where they safely tied alongside,” a spokesperson said.
The team returned back to the station at 1am.
This tasking came while the team were finishing off their scheduled cliff rescue training at Muckross Head.
