THE Killybegs Coast Guard was busy on Monday, responding to two separate emergencies in their area.
The first incident occurred in the afternoon when the Coast Guard was dispatched to assist a hill walker who had fallen while trekking up Slieve League. The walker, a female, sustained a lower leg injury during the fall.
In a Facebook post detailing the incident, the Killybegs Coast Guard shared:”Killybegs Coast Guard were tasked this afternoon to a fallen hill walker up Slieve League. She sustained a lower leg injury.”
The post further explained that after receiving first aid on the scene, the casualty was carefully placed in a stretcher and transported to the nearest car park where an ambulance was waiting to take her to the hospital.
“We wish her a speedy recovery. Many thanks to our colleagues at the National Ambulance Service (NAS),” they added.
Later the same day, the Killybegs Coast Guard was called out once again.
This time, they were summoned to a remote area outside Ardara, where a young cyclist had suffered a head injury after falling from their bike.
The Coast Guard was quick to respond, once again working alongside the National Ambulance Service and the crew of Rescue 118 to ensure the injured cyclist received the necessary medical attention.
In another update on social media, they wrote: ” A young cyclist fell off their bike and sustained a head injury in a remote area outside Ardara. We assisted the National Ambulance Service (NAS) and the crew of Rescue 118. The casualty was transported to hospital via helicopter. We hope the casualty makes a speedy recovery.”
Both casualties were transported safely for further medical care, with the community wishing them both a full and quick recovery.
