Kilcar 0-7 Naomh Conaill 0-4
KILCAR were crowned senior champions for the first time since 1993 after they defeated 13-man Naomh Conaill in a dour final in Ballybofey today.
The sides were level at 0-2 to 0-2 after 15 minutes, but Kilcar then kicked four points without reply, with Patrick McBrearty landing a trio of points.
However, Dermot Molloy scored a late free to reduce Naomh Conaill’s deficit to three points at the break.
Fifteen minutes elapsed without a score in the second half before Eunan Doherty fired over.
However, Ryan McHugh restored Kilcar’s three-point lead before Dermot Molloy was sent off for Naomh Conaill.
Eoghan McGettigan was shown a straight red late on, but it was Kilcar’s day and the Dr Maguire Cup is now their property for the first time in 24 years.
