Key event in Donegal as part of Jobs Week

An important event is to take place in Donegal today as part of Jobs Week. A workshop for anyone on the job hunt will take place in Carndonagh this morning, with advisors giving career guidance and assistance with preparing a CV and learning interview skills.

Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection Regina Doherty, T.D. has today welcomed the great response to Jobs Week 2017, which takes place this week. With over 100 events across the country and 16,000 attendees expected, Jobs Week is a major nationwide event for the Department. Jobs Week 2017 continues until Friday 29th September.

This dedicated week of activity provides job seekers and employers the opportunity to network and connect together and to provide information on the services available to jobseekers and employers from the Department’s Intreo service.

As well as advertising job vacancies, the events organised as part of Jobs Week will include 1-2-1 CV clinics, interview preparation workshops, seminars, career coaching and recruitment fairs targeted at specific industries. There are also a number of events around the country dedicated to diversity and offering information and support on employing people with disabilities.

Welcoming the great response to Jobs Week this year, Minister Doherty said: “Jobs Week offers a great opportunity for jobseekers to meet with employers, exchange advice, and especially, find work. Equally, it provides employers with the opportunity to actively recruit. This year’s events include Job Fairs, information sessions for job seekers on upskilling opportunities and careers, career advice workshops covering CV preparation and interview techniques. It is an opportunity not to be missed by jobseekers looking for work and by employers who are trying to find the most suitable people for their work.”

Taking place this morning, Wednesday 27th September 2017, from 10am to 1pm, in the Intreo Centre in Carndonagh.
