ELECTION 2024: Kevin Bradley loses his seat on Donegal County Council

INDEPENDENT candidate Kevin Bradley has lost his seat on Donegal County Council.

It comes after another dramatic day at the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny where the counting of votes has been continuing in the Letterkenny Local Electoral Area.

In the early hours of this morning, Mary T Sweeney asked for a recount after the results from the 12th count saw her finish just five votes short of Independent candidate Kevin Bradley. That result would have seen her eliminated and her votes distributed to decide who would take the final seat.

However, following the recount it emerged that Mary Sweeney had overtaken Kevin Bradley just two votes. He then asked for a second recount of the votes.

Following the second recount, Mr Bradley finished behind Ms Sweeney and his votes will now be distributed.
