TWO kayakers were rescued by the coastguard last night after getting stuck in mud in Lough Swilly. Malin Head Coastguard co-ordinated the rescue at around 10.30pm and the helicopter was sent in to get the pair out of the sticky situation near Magherabeg school at Manor.
“They got stuck in the mud. They were caught out when the tide went out,” said a spokesperson for the coastguard.
“The helicopter came down because the coastguard unit couldn’t get in. It was very straightforward. The biggest problem with them call outs is finding where they are but we knew exactly where they were.”
