Kavanagh named as the new Donegal Buncrana Cup manager

Rory Kavanagh.

ALL-Ireland winner Rory Kavanagh has been named as head-coach for the Donegal U16 Buncrana Cup squad for the 2018 season.
The St Eunan’s club-man, who was ratified as a meeting of the County Board in Ballybofey on Wednesday night, becomes the latest member of the 2012 Donegal squad to link up with the Donegal set-up.
Kavanagh, who teaches in Scoil Cholmcille, Letterkenny, has enjoyed a very successful career with both club and county. He continues to line-out in the Black and Amber colours of St Eunan’s.
He will be assisted by fellow St Eunan’s man David O’Herlihy and Brian McCabe, St Nauls. O’Herlihy was part of the U15 Northern Development squad set-up last year while McCabe was in charge of the U15 Southern squad.
Buncrana’s Gary Duffy is the manager of the Donegal U17 squad while the U20 position has yet to be filled.
Former Donegal Minor team manager Shaun Paul Barrett and Glenswilly’s Gary McDaid are vying for the post. It is understood that both men met with County Board officials on Wednesday night.
Kavanagh joins four time All Star Karl Lacey, who is part of Declan Bonner’s senior team management, on the sidelines for Donegal while their team-mate Eamon McGee is part of Gary McDaid’s backroom team should he be successful in securing the U20 job.
