Donegal GAA has confirmed the appointment of Karl Lacey as County Performance Lead to Donegal’s academy.
It follows on from his appointment earlier this week as manager of the Donegal U16 footballers.
The Four Masters man had stepped away from the role as head of Academy in Donegal in the early months of 2023, citing a lack of support.
Speaking in today’s Donegal News, county chairperson Mary Coughlan has been speaking of her delight at getting Lacey back on board with the county following his appointment as U16 manager.
Donegal GAA has today issued a short statement announcing Lacey’s appointment as County Performance Lead.
The statement reads:
“CLG Dhūn na nGall are delighted to announce the appointment of Karl Lacey as County Performance Lead to our academy.
“As such, Karl will lead the delivery of the National Strategy to improve the quality, coherence and consistency of player and coach development within our county, and will operate within a national approach to align both the Gaelic Games Player and Coach Pathways. Part of the long-term view is to enhance coach education for all units; club, coaches, etc.
“We wish Karl every success in his new role and for his future with Donegal GAA.”
