Kacper Dudek remembered for being full of joy and love at requiem Mass

By Dionne Meehan

A YOUNG man who tragically lost his life in a road collision during Storm Éowyn was remembered for being full of joy, passion and love at his funeral Mass this morning.

Kacper Dudek (20), of Beechwood Park, Lifford, was on his way home from work at Zeus Industrial Products in Letterkenny last Friday morning shortly before 5.30am when a tree fell on his car at Feddyglass, Raphoe.

Requiem Mass took place in St Patrick’s Church, Murlog this morning where hundreds gathered to pay their respects.

Addressing mourners, Fr Ignacy Saniuta said Kacper’s death raises many questions that we do not understand.

“His passing brings difficult questions and there are no easy answers,” he said.

“But today, in this moment, we come together in prayer trusting that God is with us, even when we do not understand his plans.”

Born in Poland, Mr Dudek moved to Ireland with his parents when he was just two and a half-years-old.

“He will be remembered as a young man full of joy, passion and love for others,” Fr Saniuta said.

“Kacper was a loving son, brother, boyfriend and friend.

“Many of us remember him as a young man who truly enjoyed life.”

Mr Dudek enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his younger brother and sister.

“His special relationship with his younger brother and sister were very important to him,” Fr Saniuta said.

“He taught his brother to play football with both feet and took care of his young sister, always looking out for her like a protective older brother.”

But the most important love in his life was his girlfriend Molly, who he met just a few months ago.

“He was caring, protective and affectionate towards her,” Fr Saniuta said.

“She was very special to him and their relationship was full of love.”

Mr Dudek loved shopping, collecting aftershaves and taking photographs.

“His favourite things like the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings were not just entertainment for him, but sources of exploration and adventure,” Fr Saniuta said.

Proud of his Polish hertigate, Fr Saniuta said Mr Dudek was never ashamed to be different.

“He was Polish, interested in the history of Poland and proud of who he was,” he said.

“Kacper was full of energy, passion and joy.

“He knew how to enjoy life and was not afraid to be himself, sometimes breaking the rules and never ashamed to be different.”

Following Mass, cremation took place in Lakelands Crematorium in Cavan.

Mr Dudek is the dearly loved son of Arthur and Katarzyna Dudek, much loved brother of Karol and Weronika and loving boyfriend of Molly.
