FINN Harps defender Kevin Jordan is content with the recent run of positive results that the side have enjoyed and hopes they can keep it going when they welcome Longford Town to Finn Park on Friday night.
Kevin McHugh’s side made the long trip down south to face Limerick side Treaty United last Friday night and came away with the three points thanks to a Gradi Lomboto goal, his third in his last four games.
Harps went more than two months without picking up a result in the league and dropped down the table.
However, they have back-to-back wins in the league now and are up to seventh in the standings.
They are two positions and seven points off UCD in fifth and the play-off spots.
There’s ground to make up but Jordan and his teammates are intent on closing the gap.
“It was good to get another win under our belt and make it back-to-back victories. It was great to get another clean sheet and we’re four games unbeaten now so there were a lot of positives.”
Friday’s triumph over the Treaty men brought an end to a hectic week for the Finn Park residents, having three games in the space of seven days.
The club came away from this with seven points out of a maximum nine on offer including a first defeat of the season inflicted on league leaders Dundalk.
The Buncrana man said that despite the recent schedule being demanding on the body, it was brilliant to walk away at the end of it with a substantial amount of points and give their supporters something to cheer about.
“We were saying after the game that if we were offered the seven points out of the nine beforehand we would’ve taken it, so it was definitely great to get them.”
“The schedule was tough there, we had three big games. Obviously coming away with two wins and a draw, you’ll take that. Getting three clean sheets as well was a positive. It was tough on the body but we’ll just recover this week and go again Friday, the games keep coming.”
