THE North West Simon Community in Donegal is recruiting 25 brave volunteers to participate in their fifth annual Sponsored Street Sleep in Letterkenny, on Friday, October 4.
Your bed for the night will consist of a cardboard mattress, a sleeping bag and a pillow if you are feeling luxurious. All money raised will stay Donegal and go directly towards providing housing support, advice and advocacy to individuals and families throughout Donegal.
“Participants will be asked to raise funds in the lead up to the event – we’re hoping each participant could reach a minimum of €250,” said Collette Ferguson, Development Officer.
Sponsorship cards will be provided. Money can be raised in numerous ways – cake sale, bric a brac sale, coffee morning, whip around at work or by asking for sponsorship.
Previous years volunteers said the Street Sleep was a great experience and something they wouldn’t forget while helping the less fortunate in Donegal.
Once numbers and names are finalised a meeting will be held in Letterkenny for all participants to outline what the night will involve and to share fund-raising ideas to help raise sponsorship.
Adopt a Sleeper
Businesses can also get involved by adopting a sleeper for the night which means you sponsor a sleeper for a minimum of €50. Businesses will be mentioned in all press releases, on the charity’s website and Facebook page.
