Johnny Strain hit a hole-in-one at Portsalon Golf Club at the weekend.
Johnny would be well known to anyone who is a regular at the course, as he is incredibly in his 58th consecutive year as a member at the club.
It was on the par three 10th hole where Johnny recorded the ace, as he was still as competitive as ever on Saturday, finishing in third place.
Liam Sweeney was the winner of Saturday’s members competition, scoring 43 points. Gerard Duffy was runner-up with 42 points, while Johnny’s score of 41 was enough for third.
Captain Gareth McLarnon and Lady Captain Claire Ferry will be hosting their Drive-In on Sunday 12th March this year.
Recent years have witnessed foul weather conditions for the traditional date in January following the AGM, so the Captain’s this year have elected to wait and hope for some fairer early spring weather. The format will be a scramble.
