ST JOHNSTON man Joe Bovaird has raised a whopping €3530 for Mary’s Meals.
For the past 56 years, Mr Bovaird has been raising vital funds for charities around Donegal by making St Brigid’s crosses.
Receiving donations for all the crosses he makes, this year Mr Bovaird made almost 1,000 crosses.
St. Brigid’s crosses are often woven out of rushes and appear in many different shapes, with the most popular design featuring a diamond in the centre.
Presenting a cheque of €3530 to Fr Eamonn Kelly last week, Mr Bovaird has helped feed 160 school children for the full school year.
