MARGO from Kincasslagh and Jimmy from Senegal look set to battle it out to see whose song will be Donegal fans’ anthem for the eagerly awaited All Ireland final next month.

Following on from Donegal’s famous victory against Cork in Croke Park on Sunday, Margo O’Donnell says she has been inundated with requests from people from the county to re-launch ‘Walking Tall In Donegal’.

The song was hugely popular throughout the county and further afield and became something of an anthem when Donegal last reached the All Ireland Final in 1992.

However, ‘Jimmy’s Winning Matches’ by Rory Gallagher and Jimmy from Senegal has become an internet sensation in recent weeks.

But now, Margo says that her phone did not stop over the last number of weeks with people asking was she going to re-release her old song, so she has decided to re-script it with a few changes thrown in to relate to Jim McGuinness’ team.

The song, which will showcase the full team who will perform for Donegal for the All Ireland final in September, promises to be a huge hit and is due to be recorded next Monday.

However, the new up-to-date lyrics will not be revealed until it is known who Donegal will face in the showdown.

Margo says that she is a very proud Donegal woman and commended the team and Jim McGuinness on their success and the boost of good feeling they have given the county.

Jimmy from Senegal could not be contacted at the time of going to press.
