HUNDREDS of relatives, neighbours and friends piled into the Jennings’ family home this afternoon to cheer on Sinead Jennings at the Rio Olympics.
Sinead and her partner Claire Lambe had produced the performance of their lives in the Women’s Lightweight Double Sculls final, however, it just wasn’t to be.
The eldest daughter of Mick and Teresa Jennings from Hawthorn Heights, Sinead (39) and Claire (26) just could not catch the best oars women in the world in the hope of winning Ireland’s first ever woman’s rowing medal.
A doctor in Limerick, Sinead was joined in Brazil by her husband Sam Lynch – himself a two-time Olympic rower – while their three daughters – Clodagh (5), Molly (3) and Hannah (2) have stayed at home.
