JASON Quigley will take on 27-year-old Mexican Fernando ‘Pantera’ Najera (1-3) in his second professional fight on Saturday in the StubHub Centre, Carson, California.
Following his win by TKO over Howard Reece, just 82 seconds into his pro debut last month in Las Vegas, Quigley will face Najera, based in Tijuana in northwest Mexico, on the undercard of the IBF light welterweight world title fight.
Najera had had four previous bouts, losing his first three but winning his last against American Jonathan Jackson at the Tijuana Palenque on August 1.
Jackson (3-1-2) was said to have looked the better in the night, but Najera managed to push enough to claim a 40-36, 40-36, 39-37 unanimous win in his home town.
Last December he lost his debut against Luis Lopez before also coming out on the wrong side of bouts against Yamaguchi Falcao in April and Danny Valdivia in May. The defeats to Lopez and Valdivia were by TKOs in rounds 4 and 2 respectively.
His fight against Falcao was at The Stub Hub Center.
Golden Boy Promotions fighter Quigley has his final press conference in The StubHub Center this afternoon before he weighs in on Friday ahead of Saturday’s contest.
