JAMIE Doherty remains in limbo with a decision yet to be made on his proposed transfer from Letterkenny Gaels to St Eunan’s.
The Donegal CCC secretary, Seán McGinley, confirmed on Tuesday night at the monthly sitting of the county committee that his committee had sought ‘further clarification’ from the Ulster Council on what has become a long, drawn-out saga.
The player initially sought a transfer in March 2012 when he wrote to the County Board outlining his reasons but the player has remained in the grey area since.
The matter had expected to have been resolved within the last month, but the CCC have now asked the provincial council for further guidance.
For the third year running, the transfer has been requested and at Tuesday’s meeting the St Eunan’s secretary, Charlie McAteer again raised the query.
“There has been another inter-club transfer mentioned has been held up because of allegiance to a player’s first club but, if that’s the case, then there should be no inter-club transfers,” he said.
The CCC discussed the proposed move at their meeting on Tuesday and will thrash it out again when next they convene.
Letterkenny Gaels delegate Jim McGlynn renewed his club’s request for copies of documents that had been read out to representatives at a meeting with the sub-committee appointed to explore the ins and outs of the issue.
