DONEGAL singer Jacqui Sharkey has just announced her very first headline show in Dublin, at the famous National Concert Hall (NCH).
The stage at the NCH has been graced by world renowned artists and on Thursday, May 31, it will be Jacqui’s time to steal the show.
In ‘You Needed Me: A Celebration Of The Music and Life of Anne Murray’, Jacqui will perform all the big hits made famous by the Canadian pop icon.
Jacqui has been compared to Anne Murray a lot in the past and, in fact, also recorded one of her biggest hits, You Needed Me, on her album A New Dawn.
“I never heard it myself until recently while I was driving down to Galway to do a concert with Midwest Radio and I heard a song and thought ‘that sounds like me’ – it was Anne Murray.
By some ‘bizarre’ coincidence, Jacqui was recently called by her cousin from Florida who was in the company of none other than Anne Murray and played her Jacqui’s album. “And would you believe it, even she thought I sounded like her,” she laughed.
Jacqui’s night at the NCH will be a celebration of the Canadian singer who was ‘hugely popular’ in Ireland. “There has been a lot of interest in the concert and it will just be a great night of fantastic songs and possibly some very special guests, so I can’t wait.”
