Jack's night with big 'smokin' Joe Frazier

WELL known Letterkenny man Jack McLaughlin was one of four ‘bouncers’ picked to look after the then World Heavyweight Champion Joe Frazier came to Donegal in 1971.
Frazier and his band ‘The Knock-Outs’ were booked to perform at the newly-built Lilac Ballroom in Carndonagh. It was June 8, 1971, just three months after Frazier beat Muhammed Ali in their famous Madison Square Garden showdown. Frazier sang and played the saxophone backed by a seven-piece band and five go-go dancers.
