‘It was a great result’ – McBrearty

Donegal captain Patrick McBrearty was happy to see his side pick up a ‘great result’ in Celtic Park on Saturday evening but his attention was already switching towards the Ulster semi-final next Sunday by the time the team bus was leaving Derry City.

McBrearty came on in the second half as Donegal won by 4-11 to 0-17.

Donegal will now face either Tyrone or Cavan and they meet in Breffni Park today at 4pm.

“It was a great result,” said the Kilcar man after the match.

“We had a game plan today and we felt if we executed it we would be in a good position and thankfully we got a couple of goals that really put us in the ascendancy.

“We know it’s only one win and we have another game next week which will be tight as well.

“Obviously you have to enjoy tonight and enjoy the experience but we have to get our feet back on the ground soon.”
