MCGEADYS from every corner of the globe will converge in Donegal on August 30 and 31 for an historic family reunion.
The highly anticipated McGeady Clan Gathering will take place at iconic venues in Dunlewey including McGeady’s Bar and the Dunlewey Lakeside Centre and will host a range of activities celebrating the rich heritage and enduring legacy of the McGeady family.
Up to 150 people from home and abroad are expected to attend the event with many travelling from places as far flung as America, New Zealand and Australia to participate in storytelling, live music and historical lectures as they connect with old and new family members.
The two day event has a busy itinerary including a visit to Gaoth Dobhair Community Library, where a Genealogy Room has been set up to help people to trace their McGeady roots and make connections.
“We have built a comprehensive database that will help people to trace their roots even if all they have is their Granny’s name,” said librarian Denis McGeady, who is also a member of the organising committee for this year’s reunion.
This will be the 10th time the McGeady Clan Gathering will take place since 1983 when Paul McGeady first brought the McGeadys together in Philadelphia in what has now become a cherished tradition for McGeadys of all variation.
