A DUBLIN teenager was rescued by emergency services after falling and injuring himself at the top of Errigal last night.
The youth was hiking with a friend when he lost his footing and tumbled down a steep slope sustaining cuts and bruising to his leg and a suspected dislocated shoulder.
A spokesperson for Donegal Mountain Rescue (DMR) confirmed they were tasked with the rescue at 19:30 BST and a helicopter was deployed from Malin Head Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard helicopter was initially unable to lift the youth due to high winds and inaccessibility. Two members of DMR were subsequently airlifted to the man and put him on a stretcher, carrying him to a spot where the helicopter could take him to safety.
The youth’s friend was also led to safety by the rescue team. The rescued youth and his friend had both been attending an Irish college in the area.
