INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into the seizure of a huge drugs haul in Donegal which occurred in February.
In a statement to the Donegal News this week, Gardaí confirmed that investigations are “still ongoing” into the €751,500 seizure.
On February 21, Gardaí in Donegal seized suspected cannabis valued at approximately €631,500.
The drugs were seized during a course of searches at an industrial premise in Donegal Town.
The searches were conducted by the Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by local members from Ballyshannon District.
During the course of the search, a large scale grow-house was located with cannabis plants at various stages of growth.
The drugs seized comprised of 500 cannabis plants and 13.5kg of cultivated cannabis herb.
Following this, Gardaí in Ballyshannon conducted follow-up searches seizing a further €120,000 worth of suspected cannabis.
This brought the estimated total of drugs seized to €751,500.
