A FRESH appeal has been made for people not to keep valuables in their vehicle after a Letterkenny man had a bank card stolen after spotting a man outside his home.
Gardaí were contacted by a resident of the Cullion Road area in Letterkenny in relation to the incident on Sunday, April 14 at 2am.
The man told gardaí that he observed a male at the rear of his property. When the man realised he had been seen he took off on foot.
The caller later realised that a bank card had been stolen from his car which had been unlocked.
A garda spokesperson said: “ We appeal to other residents in the area to make contact with us in Letterkenny on (074) 9167100 if they observed a male on foot in the area in the early hours of Sunday morning.”
Gardaí also urged that anyone who was in the area at the time with a dash cam to make the footage available to them.
“We would like to remind everybody to please ensure that their vehicle is locked at all times when left unattended whether it is parked at home or in a public place.
“Do not leave cash or other valuables in it. Keep your keys out of sight and away from windows in your home,” said the garda spokesperson.
