International and local music at The Balor this week

THERE is top quality local and international music at The Balor, Ballybofey this week.

Brooklyn based twins The Brother Brothers play on Wednesday as part of an extensive European tour while country legend Brendan Quinn launches his new album Hubbin’ It on Thursday.

The Brother Brothers are the indie folk duo of Adam And David Moss – born and raised in Peoria, Illinois and now loosely based in Brooklyn. Touring as an acoustic duo – David on cello and Guitar, Adam on five-string fiddle, there are definite shades of Simon and Garfunkel in the melody and harmony with darker, moodier Appalachian folk and bluegrass undertones leading to a striking and captivating sound.

Looking ahead to what promises to be a great evening, Balor manager Conor Malone said, “The Brother Brothers played here once before in March 2019 and personally I would rate it as my favourite gig of that year.

“When I heard that they were doing a couple of Irish dates as part of their European tour I made it a priority to get them back to The Balor. We’re delighted that we could work something out.”

If you’re a fan of Simon and Garfunkel, folk, bluegrass or just good music in general this is a gig for you.

Musician Brendan Quinn is marking 50 years in music with a new album and a mini-tour. He will launch ‘Hubbin’ It’ in the Balor Arts Centre on Thursday night.

The following night (Thursday September 22) sees legendary country singer Brendan Quinn launch his new album Hubbin’ It.

Brendan has been a fixture at the top of the irish country scene for over 50 years. His memorable back catalogue includes hit songs such as It’s Four In The Morning, Bandy The Rodeo Clown and Daddy’s Little Girl.

Like a fine wine Brendan just gets better with age. Recent albums ‘Tickin’ Over’ and ‘Lockdown’ garnered extensive airplay and critical acclaim, delighting old fans while introducing his music to a whole new audience.
