A WOMAN was airlifted to Letterkenny University Hospital yesterday after she sustained an injury on Errigal Mountain.
At 12.36pm, Donegal Mountain Rescue was tasked by the National Ambulance Service to assist a female who had fallen and sustained a lower leg injury on the mountain.
A Donegal Mountain Rescue spokesperson said: “When the team arrived at the Errigal Carpark, Rescue 118 was also on scene along with the Bunbeg Coast Guard.
“As the weather conditions worsened, Rescue 118 lowered the paramedic to below the casualty, who made his way up with the Coast Guard to the casualty’s location.
“Rescue 118 then waited while the paramedic stabilised the casualty.
“After a few attempts, the casualty was successfully moved to a better location so as to be winched up and taken to LUH.”
Donegal Mountain Rescue was stood down at 15.28pm.
“Another successful rescue,” continued a spokesperson.
“Our thanks to our colleagues at Rescue 118 and Bunbeg Coastguard.
“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
