A THIRTEEN-year-old Inishowen girl has died following a crash on the Glenshane Road, outside Derry.
The girl, from Clar in the Redcastle area, was in a car which was in collission with anohter vehicle shortly after 5:40 pm yesterday evening. Her name has not yet been released.
The girl’s older sister has been transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where she is in a critical condition.
Police closed the road at the junction with the Tamnaherin Road and Tirbracken Road, to allow a full forensic examination of the scene. However, it was re-opened at 1am.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said there had been heavy rain all day – with surface water causing difficult driving conditions.
