GARDAÍ are investigating two incidents at two separate substations in Donegal.
A substantial amount of copper was stolen from the ESB substation at Lurgybrack in Letterkenny, sometime between 5pm on Monday, July 21 and 9.30am on Monday, July 28.
The stolen items were 300m of copper wire (19 by 1.5) and nine 5m lengths of copper wire.
No damage was caused in order to gain entry to the site.
A garda spokesperson said: “We appeal to anyone who may have observed any suspicious activity in that area or who may be able to assist with relevant information to contact Gardaí in Letterkenny on (074) 9167100 or to contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.”
Meanwhile, an incident of criminal damage occurred at the ESB substation on the Ballybofey Road in Donegal Town in which steel railings were cut and bent.
The criminal damage occurred sometime between Monday, July 21 at midnight and 9pm on Saturday, July 27.
Entry was not gained to the main building and nothing was stolen.
“We appeal to anyone who may have observed suspicious activity in that area between those dates to contact Gardaí in Ballyshannon on (071) 9858530,” a garda spokesperson said.
