In Their Thousands put in a winning performance at the Grand Final of the Guinness Arthur’s Day Play On The Day competition in Whelan’s, Dublin.

LAST week Donegal’s hottest original music bands won the grand final of ‘Guinness Arthur’s Day – Play On The Day’ competition.
On Wednesday night In Their Thousands wowed a judging panel of music industry heavyweights to win the presitigious competition sponsored by Hot Press and RTÉ 2fm.
The judges – Niall Stokes and Roisin Dwyer of Hot Press, Cormac Battle and Paddy McKenna of RTE 2fm and Shilpa Ganatra of The Star – said they were struck by the ‘truly original and epic noise’ the Donegal band created on the night.
Since the night Ruairí Friel, Liam Kelly, Declan and Aidan McClafferty have been on a real high being greeted by friends, family and well wishers on their return to Donegal at the weekend.
Following their win, Ruairí paid tribute to the other competitors Protobaby, The Hot Sprockets and The Calvinists and the supporters who travelled to Dublin on one of the band’s social network pages.
“To all the people who came and sang their hearts out last night for anyone playing their own music, to all our folks who took the time to join us in Whelans, to all the people who messaged today, to all our friends who couldn’t be there – we salute you,” said Ruairí.
Speaking yesterday, Declan once again echoed these sentiments, especially regarding the support they have received from music fans in Donegal.
“The support we have had is just incredible and we want people to know that we really, really appreciate it,” he said.
Now that the celebrations are over with, the band get back to work today to raise the funds for their next EP as these musicians are taking nothing for granted.
