YESTERDAY afternoon Donegal band In Their Thousands kicked off their second ever Germany tour with a fantastic extensive appearance on live television.
The popular band from Downings and Fanad appeared on NRW.TV which is broadcast from the Nordrhein-Westfalen region in the west of Germany. You can view the programme here: http://nrw.tv/nrw-live-vom-14-04-2015/
Aidan and Declan McClafferty, their cousin Ruairí Friel and Marty Smyth from Malin, who has joined them for the tour, played their of their songs 0400 (00:07:00), The Pattern (01:05:00) and The Swel (01:17:00).
Appearing on the station’s daytime lifestyle programme, NRW LIVE, the band were interviewed by presenter Sophie Hofer (00:31:00).
Knowing the band are fluent Irish speakers, Ms Hofer even went as far as getting Declan to introduce the next segment in Irish, where fellow hosts Peter Wirth and Natasha Wiese were talking about the current demise of the Hamburger SV, last in the 1. Bundesliga.
After In Their Thousands’ first performance, Wirth and Wiese, already described the band’s sound as sensational and throughout the programme their enthusiasm for the band was notable, so much so that Ms Hofer wanted to join the band and take over for Aidan on drums.
Tonight, In Their Thousands play their first full show in Oberhausen, so if you know anyone in the locality be sure to tell them to go to Druckluft on Am Foerderum 27, from 8pm (German time)
