The Diocese of Raphoe will have a new Bishop following the announcement this morning of the appointment of St. Johnston native, Bishop Niall Coll.
The announcement was made following morning Mass in St. Eunan’s Cathedral in Letterkenny in front of a packed congregation.
Bishop Coll has been Bishop of Ossory in Kilkenny for the past two years and he will be installed as Bishop of Raphoe at a future date.

He spoke of his pride at his appointment and added that among the challenges he faces when he takes up his new position is how parishes within the diocese are organised.
Following today’s announcement, the new Bishop met and chatted with members of the public who were in attendance at the official announcement.
