iMotors team participate in Big Beach Clean 2024

As part of an ongoing partnership with Clean Coasts Ireland, Kia are the official sponsor of the Big Beach Clean 2024 which took place all over Ireland – and in Donegal – last weekend.

The Big Beach Clean is part of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) and invites volunteers from across Ireland to remove coastal litter after the end of the bathing season.

The data collected from this campaign is part of a worldwide citizen science project that aims to heighten awareness about the issue of marine litter and help to shape future policies in this area.

Last year, over 400 groups registered to host a clean-up, with 7,700 Clean Coasts volunteers removing a staggering 46 tons of litter from Irish beaches.

This year, the team at iMotors proudly volunteered to help protect one of their local beaches in Donegal.

On Saturday last, staff members joined forces with The Big Beach Clean initiative to clean Marble Hill Beach in Dunfanaghy.

Seamus McLaughlin, Managing Director of iMotors, expressed his enthusiasm for the project; “We’re delighted to be part of an initiative that aligns with our values.

“Kia’s support for sustainability, including using recycled materials in our cars, reflects our commitment to a greener future. This is just one way our company is contributing to a more sustainable world, which remains a key part of our vision moving forward.”

Kia place sustainability at the core of their business strategy with a long-term goal of Carbon Neutrality by 2045.

As part of this initiative, Kia is dedicated to using recycled materials in vehicle production, including recycled ocean waste.

Kia is a global supporter of The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organisation dedicated to developing and scaling technologies to combat plastic pollution in the world’s oceans.

The plastic recovered from these operations is currently recycled and upcycled for use in the production of Kia EVs and by 2030, 20 per cent of vehicle plastics will come from recycled materials.
