COUNCILLOR Ali Farren has said he is “worried” and the party has “a lot to fight for” as early tally figures are showing a battle ahead for 100% Redress Party candidate, Charlies Ward.
Cllr Farren of the 100% Redress Party was speaking to the Donegal News just moments ago, as tallying continues in the Aura Leisure Centre for General Election 2024.
“I am neither confident or happy at the moment. I am worried, we need to get a voice (in the Dáil). We might be there thereabouts at the end, but we’re not guaranteed. We have a lot to fight for.
“What I’m seeing is we’re not picking up as many two’s as we would like. It’s all to play for, it’s early days. The longer we can stay in it the best change we have but we’re.”
Mr Farren said he was ‘disappointed’ that Mr Ward is not doing stronger than he is, according to early tallies.
“I think Charles did quite well in Drumkeen, where he is living. In Inishowewn, he really only came out of there as fourth in most places, maybe fifth in some. Inishowen didn’t come out strong for him. It’s a disappointment.
“They’re putting all their eggs in the Sinn Féin basket and left us with the crumbs. We’re here for the long haul. It would be so nice to get a voice in Dublin, but if people don’t want it they didn’t vote for it.
“It’s not for the lack of campaigning. Sinn Fein has promised the sun, moon and a new house. It is a political promise. We have Thomas Pringle, that last box was picking up a lot of votes. Thomas has spoken well for us.
“We are hoping that Charles will be transfer friendly, but at the moment I’m not seeing the big transfer but it’s all to play for.”
