Illegal parking at Marble Hill beach causing mayhem

SERIOUS concern has been raised that illegal parking close to Marble Hill beach in Dunfanaghy could block emergency access.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Councillor Michael McClafferty said incidents of illegal parking have been commonplace along the road to the Shandon Hotel and Marble Hill beach. He said the situation has already prevented refuse lorries from gaining access to customers,  and could result in a potential fatality if emergency services are unable to access the road.
“Illegal parking has to stop along the road to the Shandon Hotel and Marble Hill beach. We all know the rules of the road, there are no excuses for this bad parking. Some day it might just happen that emergency vehicles won’t get through, as is the case already between local refuse lorries unable to reach customers as the road is blocked on both sides, plus all other possible deliveries that will be trying to get down to all the local businesses that are there presently.”
Cllr McClafferty is appealing to motorists to use allocated spaces only for parking, or walk a bit from a safe distance.
“Keep the main thoroughfare clear at all times.”
