PROPOSALS to set up a temporary ice-skating rink in Letterkenny later this year have been given a warm reception by local councillors.

Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council has been approached in relation to the proposed setting up of an ice-rink.

It is understood that the site in question will be on council lands adjacent to the Neil T. Blaney Road.

Back in 2008, a Christmas on Ice rink in the town – the first of its kind in Letterkenny – proved to be very popular.

Councillors were informed that the backers of the project intend to have the rink in Letterkenny “for an extended period”.
