Ian McGarvey’s replacement to be co-opted in February

Cllr Ian McGarvey’s nephew will be co-opted onto Donegal County Council as his replacement in February.

It is understood Pauric McGarvey from Ramelton will be co-opted onto the council on February 13 at a special council meeting in Lifford.

The date of co-option was agreed at the recent meeting of Donegal County Council on Monday.

Cllr Ian McGarvey, who at 92 was Ireland’s oldest councillor, retired from politics last month after he held a seat since 2004.
