GERALDINE Mullan has spoken of her devastation at losing her husband, son and daughter in a crash on Thursday.
John (49), Tomás (14) and Amelia (6) Mullan died when their car skidded off the road at Quigley’s Point. The family had enjoyed a day out at the cinema and bowling alley and were on their way home from Derry when tragedy struck.
Funerals for the three victims were held in Moville this morning and Geraldine bravely spoke to the congregation about what had happened and about her heartbreaking loss.
“Everything was against us that night,” an emotional Mrs Mullan told St Pius X church.
“There was a high tide, inclement weather from Storm Ellen, the roadworks and slippery road conditions. Anyone who knows John knows you could not get a safer driver so there was no speed or reckless driving.
“I can picture it second by second but I won’t because it won’t do anyone any good. But it is true what they say, in a second your life can change completely and on August 21 2020 at 9.30pm, when we were supposed to be coming home and planning our next few days, my life was irrevocably changed for the worst.”
Mrs Mullan added, “John, Tomás and Amelia, I love each of you to the moon and stars and back, to infinity and beyond plus 100. That will never end and I will see you soon.”
