ACCORDING to latest figures Hyundai has sold most 141 registration vehicles in Donegal to date. Last Friday Toyota was sitting on top with 39 units sold, while Hyundai had 33 units sold and Volkswagen was sitting in third place with 31.
In only a matter of days Hyundai leap-frogged Toyota, selling 12 units to go on top with 45 whereas the Toyota brand only sold one further unit according to figures provided by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
According to the latest figures on Wednesday, Hyundai had sold 45, Toyota sold 40 units and Volkswagen only sold a further 3 units bringing their total to 34.
Terence Diver of Teague Diver & Sons, Letterkenny, said sales of Hyundai were up nearly 50 per cent from 2013.
“What makes this a real boost to us is the fact that we are the only Hyundai franchise in the county offering an extensive range of models.
“Our five-year warranty has been a major factor in our success and Hyundai is a very popular option. We also have very loyal customers.
“One of those customers, who bought a new Hyundai every year for the past 11 years was sadly buried this week just after his wife picked up the new car last week. We treat all our customers the same and we are very grateful for their support,” he said.
Mr Brendan Kelly of Kelly’s Toyota, Letterkenny, noted that the sales figures change on a daily basis, but welcome a ‘very good, positive’ start to the new year.
“Sales are definitely on the increase compared to last year and there is a lot of new footfall. We have a very strong demand for both new and used cars so it’s been a very positive start and hopefully it will continue for 11 more months.”
