Husky finds a new home

A HUSKY dog that was removed from a woman after being found underweight with severely matted hair at a home in Letterkenny is now living a new fairy-tail life.

Chrissie McGinley’s dog ‘Beckham’ had to have 2.2kgs of hair shaved off due to matting after he was taken into the care of the ISPCA on September 13, 2019.

The woman took in the dog after her son was killed in a car crash, and she has since told the Sunday World that the dog was well looked after and well fed.

According to the ISPCA, Beckham was found with an extremely matted coat and living in filthy conditions covered in faeces and muck.

He was surrendered to the ISPCA where he was examined and treated.

He received the expert care that he needed and was fully rehabilitated by dedicated animal carers and volunteers at the Donegal Animal Rehabilitation Centre.

Since then, Beckham has been rehomed and his family provided an update saying that he has settled into their home well.

‘Lovely personality’

“We met Beckham many times at the centre before going ahead with adoption, getting to know his lovely personality.

“Beckham was very timid and shy when we adopted him which is understandable going to a new home, but it didn’t take him long to find his feet and settle right in.

“The family fell in love with his quiet and gentle nature straight away.

“He loves his walks, especially on the beach and he’s happy to go anywhere in the car. He quickly became a special part of the family.

“We are so happy to be a part of his path to a healthy and happy life. He’s gained his lovely singing voice back for when it’s dinner time along with his new sassy personality.”
