Hundreds still without electricity after Storm Bram

HUNDREDS of customers in Moville and Stranorlar remain without electricity this morning.

In Moville, 777 customers are affected, while 52 customers are without power in Stranorlar.

ESB estimates that supply will be restored in Stranorlar before 1pm today, and in Moville before 2pm.

A spokesperson for ESB said: “We’re assessing the damage to the electricity network caused by the recent weather event.

“We’ll provide updates on estimated restoration times as soon as crews have evaluated impacted areas.

“Thank you for your understanding.”

The spokesperson also reminded the public of the dangers posed by fallen electricity wires.

“Fallen electricity wires are live and dangerous,” a spokesperson continued.

“Never approach or touch them.

“Call our emergency service immediately on 1800 372 999 or (+353 21 238 2410).”

Following last night’s stormy conditions, heavy showers will continue this morning with the chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms.

Conditions are expected to improve by afternoon, becoming mostly dry with highs of 8 to 11 degrees.

Tonight will remain breezy but largely dry with long, clear spells.

Towards morning, rain will begin to move into Atlantic coastal areas accompanied by strengthening winds.

Lowest temperatures will range from 6 to 9 degrees.
