Hundreds attend protest in Dungloe

CLOSE to 400 people gathered in Dungloe yesterday afternoon to protest against a business man, who they claim is ‘destroying their town’.

The peaceful protest organised by local man Gary Sweeney saw hundreds of locals march from Dungloe Main Street to The River House Hostel and back toward Sweeneys Hotel.

The protest comes following a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour which have left locals terrified.

The latest incident which took place in Dungloe Post Office on Friday afternoon saw one man
arrested after he became agitated and began threatening staff.

It is understood that the man had been in accommodation locally.

Gary Sweeney told of why he organised the protest.

“What happened on Friday is something that we’ve never encountered before and we probably wouldn’t ever encounter if not for one man’s greed.
