GAA – CENTRA SUPERMARKETS UNDER 21 ‘A’ CHAMPIONSHIP
Kilcar 1-15 St Eunan’s 3-12
SEAN Hume was the toast of Letterkenny on Saturday after his dramatic last-ditch goal clinched the Under 21 ‘A’ Championship for St Eunan’s against Kilcar in a pulsating encounter in Convoy.
There was little between the teams in the first half with Darragh Mulgrew scoring a goal for St Eunan’s, before Eoin McHugh replied with a cracking three-pointer for Kilcar.
However, the Towney men finished the first half and started the second half strongly and they established a seven-point lead by the 42nd minute.
St Eunan’s looked like a beaten team, but their opponents ran out of steam and the Catherdal town outfit took the ascendency.
They fought back to level proceedings, but Kilcar lifted their game again and a Stephen McBrearty free put them one point ahead with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Yet, the black and amber men were not going to be denied and Hume scored a free to equalise and he then palmed in a goal in the fourth minute of injury-time to win the under 21 championship for only the sixth time in St Eunan’s’ history.
