HSE responds to Fahan Health Centre story

THE Health Service Executive have said they will continue to engage with local community representatives to allay any concerns with regard to the provision of the Public Health Nurse service to the Fahan area.

The HSE was responding to a story in the Monday edition of the Donegal News which referred to changes in the services at the Fahan Health Centre in Buncrana and claims that the Public Health Nursing (PHN) Service had recently ceased without warning.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the HSE said: “The Public Health Nursing Service and equipment was never removed from Fahan Health Centre. There are no special conditions applied to the Public Health Nursing Service in Fahan Health Centre.

“The home based service continues to provide a full and comprehensive planned nursing service to the people of Fahan and the surrounding community.

“The domiciliary service requires voicemails to be left as the nurse is often out performing home visits in the local community.

“The PHN service operates and always has operated a Monday to Friday service from 9am to 5pm. If you wish to make an appointment to see the nurse in the Fahan Health centre please Tel: 074 93 31597 leave a voicemail and the nurse will return your call, voicemails left after 10.30am will be dealt with the following day.

“The HSE will continue to engage with local community representatives to allay any concerns with regard to the provision of the Public Health Nurse service to the Fahan area.”
