HSE moves to clarify catering concerns at LUH

By Louise Doyle

THE HSE has moved to assure that catering for patients and staff at Letterkenny University Hospital is provided for in-house.

This comes after concerns emerged that LUH was importing its food from outside caterers amid concerns that changes in-house meant that the hospital did not have its own caterers anymore.

However, clarifying their position, a HSE spokesperson said that this was not the case.

In a statement issued to the Donegal News in response to a query we lodged, a HSE spokesperson said:

“It is the policy of the Catering Department, Letterkenny University Hospital to provide all patients, staff, visitors and other service users with safe, sound, nutritional and wholesome food.

“All aspects of purchasing, goods receipt, storage, preparation, cooking, cooling, reheating, distribution, and service of our food products is carried out in-house by HSE employees of the Catering Department.”
