HSE gives Ardara GP update

by Louise Doyle

THE HSE has said it is ‘actively recruiting’ for a GP for Ardara Health Centre, where the doctor there is due to work their last day in less than two weeks.

Dr Sweeney raised serious concerns that deDspite contact with the HSE regarding the situation, she said she was left without an answer as to whether a replacement GP had been recruited and when that person was due to take up their appointment.

Taking to Ardara Health Centre’s Facebook page, Dr Sweeney wrote: “I have been in touch with the HSE, but have yet to be informed if interviews have been held for the post of GP in Ardara; and if so, is there a successful candidate?

“In my contacts with the HSE I have always stressed that the premises at Ardara Health Centre would be at the disposal of any successful candidate.

“As the current GP, some form of communication form the HSE would be appreciated. It would also be helpful to my staff if they had some idea whether they will be re employed by any successful candidate.”

Responding to a query from the Donegal News on the issue, a HSE spokesperson said: “The HSE are currently in an active recruitment process to fill the position.”
