Hotel quells closure rumours

by Kate Heaney

MANAGEMENT at Highlands Hotel in Glenties moved this week to quell rumours that the hotel was closing in the New Year.

Stressing on Facebook that there are “no plans whatsoever for the closure of The Highlands Hotel” the post added that they remain fully operational “with the same dedication to providing exceptional hospitality that you have come to expect from us”.

The origins of the rumours is not known but the statement from the management went on to say “we understand the importance of clear communication, and we appreciate your ongoing support. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly”.

They thanked patrons for their valued custom.

The Donegal News contacted the hotel yesterday however, no member of management was available to comment at that time on the rumours or on whether part of the premises still housed Ukrainian refugees and would continue to do so.

According to the McGill Summer School website the famous Glenties hotel will once again host the summer school from July 18 to 20, 2024, which attracts an eclectic mix of speakers and attendees.
