LETTERKENNY University Hospital is asking people to comply with visitor restrictions on Medical 3 and in the Coronary Care Unit due to number of confirmed cases of the Vomiting Bug.
In order to assist staff in curtailing the spread of this virus, visiting is limited to compassionate grounds only and must be pre-arranged with the ward managers.
Visitors are requested to cooperate with hospital staff who are ensuring the restrictions are adhered to and visitors are also advised that they must use the alcohol hand gels supplied as they enter and leave the hospital.
Infection controls procedures are in place and will remain so until further notice.
If you or a member of your household has experienced Nausea, Vomiting and/or Diarrhoea within the last 48 hours please do not visit the hospital as you risk spreading the virus to sick vulnerable patients, some of who are on treatment for serious illnesses.
Children should not visit the hospital as they may be particularly susceptible to the illness.
The hospital is recommending members of the public, who are experiencing these symptoms, to first phone their local GP before presenting at the local practice.
Patients with pre-planned hospital appointments such as outpatients who have not had any symptoms of vomiting or diarrhoea should attend their appointment as normal, unless otherwise advised by the hospital
The hospital thanks the public for their co-operation.
