Josh Mailey misses out tonight
FINN HARPS manager Ollie Horgan says his team will have to replicate last Monday night’s display against Cork City, if they are to get anything against St Patrick’s Athletic tonight.
Harps’ losing streak stretched out to eight matches when they were beaten by Cork on Monday, although Horgan’s team did produce an improved display.
The Ballybofey men worked hard and played with urgency in the second half as they searched for an equaliser, after they fell behind to Sean Maguire’s penalty.
An elusive goal didn’t arrive, but the Harps faithful were pleased with the endeavours of their team and applauded them off the field.
Next up is a clash with St Patrick’s Athletic tonight (kick-off, 8pm), and Horgan says they will be up against it.
“We’ll certainly be trying our best to get something from the game, but that won’t be easy,” said the Galway native, who will be without Josh Mailey, who started college in England today and is unavailable.
“We will have to replicate that performance from Monday night, and even that might not be enough.
“But if we don’t replicate it, we definitely won’t get anything.
“We were expecting to get a result against Longford and it didn’t happen, and we didn’t expect anything against Cork, and we almost got something.
“We wouldn’t have huge ambitions this week, because Pat’s are one of the best attacking sides in the country.
“Cork are not a team that really go for you. They might beat you 2-0 and you won’t get a sniff.
“But if you’re not at yourself, Pat’s can put goals past you like they did in the FAI Cup semi-final two years ago when they beat us 6-1. It’s a tough challenge for us.”
